Professional Vibration Risk Assessments can help you ensure that you comply with the Control of Vibration at Work Regulations 2005, which require you to assess and control the health and safety risks to your employees from vibration.

Why are Vibration Risk Assessments required?
Exposure to regular vibration in the course of work can lead to painful, debilitating conditions, such as:
HAVS (Hand-arm Vibration Syndrome) can result in serious symptoms such as circulation problems, painful muscles and joints, as well as loss of sensation and reduced grip strength in the hands.
WBV (Whole-body Vibration) can result in severe lower-back pain. Although such pains can be caused in a number of other ways – such as manual lifting – exposure to vibration can contribute significantly to back problems.
Not only are these conditions serious, but they can also take many years to develop fully, after prolonged exposure. This makes it all the more important to have effective processes in place and review them regularly.
What are the consequences of not carrying out Vibration Risk Assessments?
Exposing employees to excessive or prolonged vibration could put them at risk of serious illness, injury or death. This could result in an investigation from the HSE, for which the penalties could be heavy fines, imprisonment or both, in extreme cases.
